…O.J. Falana represents Lagos SUBEB, advancing Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda for future-ready education
In a bid to strengthen Lagos State’s education system through innovation and global collaboration, the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), under the leadership of Dr. Hakeem Shittu, made its presence felt at GITEX Europe, the continent’s most prominent and collaborative technology and start-up exhibition.

Representing LASUBEB, the youngest permanent member, O.J. Falana joined other global leaders and innovators at the landmark event, reinforcing Lagos State’s commitment to the THEMES+ Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The THEMES+ Agenda, which prioritizes Technology and Education as its third pillar, served as a strategic compass guiding LASUBEB’s participation in the conference.

Speaking on the experience, Falana noted that attending GITEX Europe provided a rare opportunity to engage directly with cutting-edge innovations, connect with international partners, and explore forward-thinking approaches to transforming public education.

“GITEX offered a unique platform to explore innovations that are shaping the future of education. From AI-powered learning tools to digital classrooms, the insights gained are invaluable to our efforts in Lagos,” Falana said.

He emphasized that integrating technology more intentionally into the State’s basic education strategy will not only enhance learning outcomes but also equip children with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age.

“As we continue to build a more inclusive and future-ready education system in Lagos, I’m excited about the ideas and collaborations this opportunity has inspired,” he added.

The LASUBEB team’s participation in GITEX Europe reflects an ongoing effort to align global best practices with local priorities, ensuring that every child in Lagos has access to quality, technology-driven education.
