Werner Herzog, Nanni Moretti, Martin McDonagh, Bahman Ghobadi, and Cody Fern among filmmakers with new works in lineup

The full schedule for the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, presented by Rogers, is now live, featuring 293 titles across the Official Selection. The announcement includes 11 additional features, completing this year’s lineup for the Festival, which runs from September 10 to 20, 2026. All Official Selection titles are now available at tiff.net/schedule.

The newly announced films include the North American Premiere of Stéphane Brizé’s A Good Little Soldier and the Canadian Premiere of Werner Herzog’s Bucking Fastard, both in the Special Presentations programme. Australian actor and filmmaker Cody Fern makes his directorial debut with Closing Night, which will have its World Premiere as a Special Presentation. The film, a co-production between Australia and Canada, marks a significant addition to the lineup.
Other newly announced titles include Bai Xue’s It’s My Time, which will have its North American Premiere as a Gala presentation; Nanni Moretti’s It Will Happen Tonight, receiving its International Premiere in Special Presentations; and the World Premiere of Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple from Canadian directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn, a documentary on the legendary Rush drummer.
The Special Presentations programme also features the Canadian Premiere of Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert’s The Idiot(s); Guy Nattiv’s The Liberation; Peter Ho-Sun Chan’s The Road Not Taken; and Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine, starring and produced by Adam Sandler. The Centrepiece programme adds Bahman Ghobadi’s Trees are Watching, a Turkish production having its World Premiere.
This marks the final programming announcement for the 51st edition of the Festival. Tickets go on sale to TIFF Members by level beginning Friday, August 21, with single tickets available to the public on Monday, August 31. The Toronto International Film Festival, presented by Rogers, runs September 10–20, 2026.
