…Sawyerr to Promote Federal Student Loan Scheme at Event Honoring Educational Support

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFund), Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, will be the Special Guest of Honour at the 3rd edition of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL) Scholarship and Bursary Award Presentation, scheduled for today, August 31, 2024.

Mr. Sawyerr, who was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier in the year to lead NELFund, expressed enthusiasm for the massive investment by IDPIL in supporting the educational advancement of undergraduates from Ikorodu Division. His decision to honor the IDPIL invitation reflects his alignment with the initiative’s mission to empower Nigerian students through financial support.

In addition to attending as a special guest, Mr. Sawyerr will introduce students from Ikorodu Division to the benefits of the Federal Government’s student loan program, which is managed by NELFund. He aims to encourage students to apply for this financial assistance, which is designed to make higher education more accessible across Nigeria.

The IDPIL Scholarship and Bursary Award, which began in 2022 with an initial fund of N20 million, has grown to N30 million this year to accommodate more beneficiaries. The presentation marks the third consecutive year of financial support to students, under the leadership of Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya.

The event will be held at the Ikorodu Ultra-modern Town Hall and will feature Ikorodu Division royal fathers, led by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, alongside other notable personalities. The ceremony highlights the continued commitment of IDPIL to the educational development of the region’s youth.
