His leadership has not only reinforced the core objectives of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEME+ agenda but has also set new standards for environmental governance in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
SOME ACHIEVEMENTS UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP
Aggressive Flood Mitigation and Drainage Control: Barr. Wahab has spearheaded proactive measures to combat perennial flooding in Lagos, ensuring the continuous dredging and maintenance of major drainages, canals, and water channels. His strategic intervention in flood-prone areas has significantly reduced the impact of heavy rainfall, making communities safer and more resilient.
Enforcement of Environmental Sanitation Laws: Recognizing the importance of discipline in waste management, he has strengthened enforcement operations against environmental infractions. Through task forces and mobile courts, defaulters of sanitation regulations are being held accountable, fostering a culture of cleanliness among residents.
Sustainable Waste Management and Cleaner Lagos Initiative: Under his leadership, the state has witnessed an improved waste disposal system through enhanced collaboration with LAWMA and PSP operators. The introduction of innovative solutions, such as the Blue Box Recycling initiative, has also promoted waste segregation and recycling, reducing the environmental burden on Lagos’ ecosystem.
Restoration and Beautification of Public Spaces: Lagos is becoming more aesthetically appealing, thanks to Barr. Wahab’s commitment to urban renewal. Abandoned spaces are being transformed into beautiful green areas, recreational parks, and gardens, contributing to the state’s ecological balance and improved air quality.
Proactive Water Resource Management: His administration has focused on ensuring the protection and sustainable use of Lagos’ water resources. This includes initiatives aimed at preventing water pollution, improving drainage infrastructure, and advocating for responsible water consumption.
