The inaugural ceremony of the Titi Tomori-Ponle Foundation (TTPF) marked a pivotal moment for women and youth empowerment, as Elder statesman, Former Governor of Osun and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council at the University of Ibadan (UI), Adebisi Akande commended the initiative during a speech at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium, Osun State University, Osogbo, on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
In his address, Akande lauded the foundation as a “beacon of hope and opportunity,” recognizing its potential to tackle challenges such as illiteracy, unemployment, and gender inequality. “This foundation is a bold initiative that stems from the benevolent part of Her Excellency, Mrs. Titi Tomori-Ponle’s mind. It seeks to empower women and youths through education, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship,” Akande noted.
Drawing on his extensive experience in public service, Akande underscored the transformative power of education and skills training, emphasizing their role in unlocking the potential of communities. He called on stakeholders from various sectors to rally behind the foundation’s vision. “Humanity is about lifting others up without the consideration of political affiliation, tribe, religion, or creed. The future is here, and the time to embrace it is now,” he urged.
Akande further advised the foundation’s initiator to ensure sustainability through robust monitoring and follow-up measures, encouraging collaboration to create a society that values and uplifts women and youth. He concluded by calling for collective action to support the foundation’s mission, stating, “Let us join hands to stimulate our selfless emotions in creating a brighter future for all our youths and women.”
