MELE KYARI AND NNPCL SHOULD BE COMMENDED RATHER THAN VILIFIED

We, concerned citizens of Nigeria from the Niger Delta, condemn the campaign of calumny against the NNPCL and its Group Managing Director, Engr. Mele Kyari.

It is clear to us that all manner of shenanigans are being deployed to paint Kyari and the NNPCL in an unfavourable light by those after the job of someone we consider a patriot and an ace performer in the oil and gas sector.

How President Bola Tinubu and Engr. Kyari have been able to stabilise prices of petroleum products for over a year now is something to be applauded and appreciated.

It is, indeed, a shame that there are those intent on vilifying them for the feat.

We hasten to remind Nigerians about the state of the oil and gas industry before Mele Kyari came on board and the successes he has recorded by boosting our crude oil production to the benefit of the entire nation.

In the process, the revenue of the entire nation has increased tremendously in addition to substantial improvement in the 13 percent derivation payable to the oil producing states we hail from.

In short, Mele Kyari’s doggedness in fighting oil theft, boosting oil production and stabilising prices of petroleum products has endeared him to our kith and kin across the oil producing communities of the Niger Delta.

In the spirit of one united nation, we consider him part and parcel of us.

Indeed, the present trajectory of the industry, under his leadership, is quite positive, even going by the projections of well-known and globally recognised international analysts.

We therefore urge Mr President, given his own wealth of experience in the oil and gas sector, to continue to stand his ground in his determination to boost our oil and gas sector.

We equally urge our dear President to discountenance an obviously orchestrated campaign of calumny to denigrate Mele Kyari , a man who has acquitted himself tremendously well in service to the nation.
