Earlier today, officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) were attacked by Nigerian Army personnel while performing their lawful duties in Yaba. The assault, reportedly ordered by Major Adebiyi and Captain Gowon, left one KAI officer injured, as shown in a video where his colleagues were seen gathering around him, distressed over his condition.

The Lagos State government has strongly condemned the attack, calling it unacceptable and unprovoked. In a statement, the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, affirmed that such acts of aggression will not be tolerated, stressing that the government remains committed to maintaining a cleaner Lagos by upholding safety and sanitation standards.

The swift intervention of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General T. Lagbaja, and the Director of Chaplain Services, Lt. Col. T.E. Ogbonyomi, has been crucial in ensuring that KAI officers can continue their work without further disruption. The Lagos State government expressed gratitude for their leadership and support for civil authority in this matter.

The injured officer is receiving medical treatment, and the state government is expected to launch a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents in the future.
