…Falana Delivers Keynote, Hails Retirees’ Legacy

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) today held a grand celebration to honour the dedicated service of retiring and retired public primary school teaching and non-teaching staff. The event, titled “Celebration of Last Day in Office and Post Service Champions,” was held at the packed LASUBEB Multipurpose Hall in Maryland.
The ceremony was organized to formally recognize and celebrate the immense contributions of the retirees to the educational sector of Lagos State, acknowledging their years of enthusiastic and dedicated service.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from the Board Secretary of LASUBEB, Mr. Hakeem Lamidi. In his opening address, he expressed the Board’s profound appreciation for the retirees’ unwavering commitment. “We are here today to thank you for the solid foundations you have laid for generations of Lagosians. Your contributions are immeasurable, and we wish you immense success in all your future endeavours,” he stated.
Goodwill messages delivered by senior officials underscored the state’s ongoing support for its retired workforce. Dr. (Mrs.) Sherifat Adedoyin (PMB, BEQA), Hon. Babatunde Jimoh (PBM, Co-Curricular), and Mrs. Bukonla Durodola (Director, Post Service Unit, PSO) applauded the retirees and offered crucial advice on life after service. They enlightened the attendees on various post-retirement programmes and activities initiated by the Lagos State Government, providing valuable tips on health, wellness, and active post-service engagement.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Owolabi J. Falana on behalf of the LASUBEB Board Chairman. In his remarks, Falana congratulated the retirees and commended the Head of Service for spearheading the initiative. “We are not just marking an end to a career, but celebrating the beginning of a new, fulfilling chapter. Your legacy is the knowledge and character you have instilled in countless children across our state,” Falana noted in his speech.
The formal programme transitioned into a vibrant celebration, electrified by music from a live band and a DJ. The retirees took to the floor, dancing with joy, their faces beamed with smiles throughout the occasion, illustrating a fitting celebration of their accomplished careers.
The event was beautifully concluded with the symbolic cutting of a celebration cake and the formal presentation of certificates to each retiree, serving as a lasting token of the state’s gratitude for their service.
The ceremony highlighted Lagos State’s commitment to not only valuing the service of its public servants but also ensuring they are celebrated and supported as they transition into retirement.
