…Falana: NAP Will Provide Reliable Data for Education Planning
The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has launched the Needs Assessment Project (NAP), a landmark initiative that will cover all 1,238 public primary, vocational, and special schools, as well as other education institutions across the state.
The project, unveiled at a stakeholders’ engagement and opening ceremony in Lagos, is designed to generate reliable data on the infrastructural and resource gaps in the state’s basic education sector.
In his welcome address, Owolabi Falana explained that the project will rely on multiple layers of verification to ensure credible findings that will guide the state government in addressing critical needs within schools.
Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Hakeem Shittu, praised the teams from Project Research & Statistics (PR&S) and Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit (PIMU) for initiating the exercise. He noted that NAP is not only about identifying challenges but also about offering practical and sustainable solutions, stressing that direct engagement with schools is key to success.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Project Implementation and Monitoring, Mr. Olusegun Sanwo-Olu, said the initiative goes beyond project planning to serve as a reliable tool for policy decision-making.
He emphasized that the future competitiveness and prosperity of Lagos depends on the investments being made today in the education of its children.
