…Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab Pledges Enhanced Welfare Packages for Operatives

The Lagos State Government has celebrated and rewarded members of the Emergency Flood Abatement Gang (EFAG) and the Drainage Enforcement and Compliance Gang for their dedication to maintaining a flood-free Lagos.

During the annual zonal awards held in Alausa, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, announced a 13th-month salary payment and free health insurance for operatives. He also revealed plans for a salary increment in 2025 to further motivate the teams.

Wahab praised EFAG for their work in cleaning blackspots, drains, and manholes, as well as the DEC Gang for ensuring the removal of illegal structures obstructing drainage across the state.

“The government recognizes your hard work and is committed to providing the necessary support for you to succeed. As you continue to deliver results, more welfare packages will follow,” Wahab said.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, Engr. Mahamood Adegbite, described the EFAG operatives as the pride of the ministry and assured them of continued support.

Team representative, Mr. Jude Nwokeukwu, expressed gratitude for the government’s consistent welfare initiatives and promised the teams would maintain their efforts to ensure a flood-free Lagos.

Commendation awards and cash prizes were presented to outstanding operatives, with the event concluding in an atmosphere of celebration.
