A Frontline aspirant for Oyo State Governorship ticket on the platform of APC Dr. Abiola Wasiu has described the N300 billion loan hurriedly approved by the Oyo State Assembly as a campaign paycheck for Governor Seyi Makinde. He decried the shabby nature of the way and manners the state assembly passed the loan as unconstitutional and as an insult to the collective intelligence of Oyo State people. Why would an assembly recall itself from recess to pass a loan whose purpose was not in the best interest of Oyo State people?
This was made known to newsmen while Dr. Abiola addressed the newsmen in Abuja after he paid a condolence visit to the APC National Chairman in Abuja. The aspirant has gone to pay his respect to the Chairman after he lost his mother. Dr. Abiola implored the assembly members to remember that they are representatives of their people and, as such, must protect the people’s interests at all time. He opined that there was no justification for such a huge loan at this time when states are enjoining high inflows of allocations from the federal government. Dr. Abiola said that money received by Oyo state from the federation accounts has tripled. He therefore advises the good people of the state to reject this dastardly act of Mr. Governor.
It is no longer hidden that His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde is interested in contesting for presidential ticket of the PDP in 2027. This N300 Billion loan is a fund he hopes to channel to that aspiration. Dr. Abiola claimed.
He also condemned the inhumane act of Governor Seyi Makinde administration in Gbàgì market. He said the government is hijacking stalls from rightful owners and giving them the highest bidders. How can a stall of less than one square meters be charged N4 million? This is condemnable, and this practice must stop immediately.
