Sanwo-Olu Invites Public to Join Africa’s First All-Electric Powerboat Championship in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on residents and visitors to be part of the historic E1 Lagos GP, Africa’s first all-electric powerboat championship, holding in Lagos from October 3 to 5.

In a statement released on his social media platforms on Monday, the governor described the event as a landmark moment for Lagos and the continent, reflecting the state’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and global recognition.

“The E1 Lagos GP is a demonstration of innovation and progress, showing how sport can inspire sustainable solutions for the future. It is also a celebration of the creativity and resilience that define our people,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He noted that the championship would not only showcase Lagos as a welcoming and dynamic city but also underline its determination to embrace the future with confidence.

The governor urged the public to secure their tickets via www.e1lagos.com, stressing that the event will put both Lagos and Africa in the global spotlight.

Promoters of the initiative earlier announced that the E1 GP — the world’s first electric powerboat championship — will bring the planet’s fastest electric boats to Lagos waters.

The event places Lagos among prestigious global host destinations such as Monaco, Venice, and Jeddah, while also carving its own identity as Africa’s aquatic capital.
