…Focus on Blue Economy, Coastal Resilience, and Financing Africa’s Ocean Innovation

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will host the 2025 International Climate Change Summit, with a major focus on the blue economy and strategies to strengthen coastal resilience across Africa.
Scheduled for November 6 to 7, 2025, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, the summit will bring together global leaders, climate experts, investors, and policymakers to discuss innovative solutions for sustainable ocean and coastal development.
The announcement was made in an official statement by the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who said the summit’s theme is “Blue Economy, Green Money: Financing Africa’s Coastal Resilience and Ocean Innovation.”
Wahab explained that the summit will serve as a strategic platform to accelerate action and investment in Africa’s ocean and coastal economies, particularly ahead of the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 30).
He added that the initiative reflects Lagos State’s growing commitment to environmental sustainability, economic innovation, and climate leadership across the African continent.
