Businessman and Chairman/Chief Executive of Oyo-Si-Maa-Dun Foundation, Mr. Abisoye Fagade, has charged Muslims across the country to extend the maintenance of all the virtues which they exhibited during Ramadan beyond the holy month in order to achieve their goals as devout servants of Allah.
Muslims all over the world are today celebrating Eid-el-Fitr after the completion of 30-day fasting in the month of Ramadan. The festival is marked worldwide on the first day of the month of Shawwal on the Islamic calendar known as Hijrah.
Fagade in a Eid message contained in a statement issued on Sunday and made available to journalists in Ibadan by his Personal Assistant (Media), Comrade Kehinde Idowu, congratulated Muslims who, he noted, used the occasion of another Ramadan to demonstrate their commitment to the faith of Islam which prescribes fasting for spiritual purposes.
“As Muslims in Nigeria joins others in all parts of the world to commemorate the end of this year’s Ramadan with Eid-el-Fitr, we found it necessary to identify with them also urge them to uphold the good lessons learned within the 30 days in which they abstain from eating, drinking and other known activities from pre-dawn till sunset.
“As enshrined in the Holy Qur’an, the main essence of fasting in the month of Ramadan is for Muslims to showcase their sincere belief in Allah. It is believed that anyone who complies with the dictate to abstain from certain essential activities in the name of fasting for Allah is worthy of his status as a Muslim and this underscores piety and faithfulness.
“No doubt, any Muslim who was able to partake in the fasting exercise as prescribed has attained a great level of piety before Allah and this status has to be guarded even beyond the holy month. This became necessary in view of the fact that Ramadan comes to bring out the best in an average Muslim who uses the occasion to serve God and humanity better.” He stated.
Fagade, a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state in the 2023 general election, also urged members of the public to pray against the “reintroduction of political violence, brigandage and unrest in Oyo state as some desperados are prepared to unleash terror on the society for them to win election again.
“As we congratulate Muslims on the occasion of Eid, we equally call on the good people of the state to be watchful and pray God to put a stop to the plans of some power mongers who only believe in violence and sharp practices to win electoral contests now that the next general election is fast approaching.” He concluded.
