….Tokunbo Wahab Assures Lagosians of Swift Repairs

The Lagos State Government has pledged to restore water supply to areas impacted by the halt in production at the Iju and Adiyan I waterworks, following a major underground pipe leakage in the Maryland area.

The leakage, which caused flooding along the highway opposite Maryland Mall, gained widespread attention after a video of the incident circulated on social media.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, responding to concerns raised by residents and social media users, confirmed that the state government is fully aware of the situation and is working to address it promptly.

Wahab explained that production at the two waterworks, which supply nearly 40% of the Lagos metropolis, was suspended to enable repairs. He noted that areas affected by the disruption include Mainland, Lagos Island, Ikeja, Ketu Alapere, Mobolaji Bank Anthony, Oregun, Aromire, Allen Avenue, Surulere, and other locations.

“Our team at Lagos Water Corporation is working tirelessly to fix the issue,” Wahab assured. “I want to sincerely apologize to residents in the affected areas and assure them that water supply will be fully restored as soon as repairs are completed.”

The Lagos State Government urged residents to remain patient as efforts are underway to resolve the issue and ensure the steady supply of water across the affected communities.
