The Toronto International Film Festival has unveiled the final honourees for the 2026 TIFF Tribute Awards, presented in partnership with Rolex. The newly announced recipients are global superstar Fan Bingbing, Academy Award winning legend Helen Mirren, acclaimed cinematographer Adam Pietkiewicz, beloved Canadian actor and filmmaker Seth Rogen, and award winning director Bassam Tariq.
The honourees join previously announced recipients Penélope Cruz, Lee Chang-dong, Rosalind Eleazar, Siân Heder, and Isabelle Huppert. The eighth annual awards gala will take place on Sunday, September 13 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey expressed enthusiasm about this year’s roster of talent. “Helen Mirren and Fan Bingbing bring bold, compelling performances to this year’s Festival, building on iconic bodies of work,” said Bailey. “Bassam Tariq’s Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother will confirm his reputation as a dazzling storyteller, and we recognize Adam Pietkiewicz for crafting never-before-seen images from one of the world’s most remote regions. And we will be forever grateful to writer, actor, director and producer Seth Rogen for sharing his wildly Canadian talents with the world.”
Fan Bingbing will receive the TIFF Special Tribute Award, which recognizes an individual who has made an extraordinary and unique contribution to the world of film. The Chinese actor and producer returns to TIFF for the World Premiere Gala Presentation of Wayne Wang’s Diary of a Mad Old Man. Her three decade career includes acclaimed performances in I Am Not Madame Bovary, which earned her the Silver Shell for Best Actress at San Sebastián, and most recently Mother Bhumi, for which she won the Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actress.
Helen Mirren will receive the TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award, presented by Joanna Griffiths and the Women of Knix. The award champions women at every stage of their creative journey. Mirren returns to the Festival with the World Premiere of Anton Corbijn’s A Talent for Murder, in which she stars as author Patricia Highsmith. Her legendary career spans more than five decades and includes an Oscar winning turn in The Queen.
Adam Pietkiewicz will receive the TIFF Variety Artisan Award for his work as cinematographer on Theja Rio’s Angh, which makes its World Premiere in the Festival’s Platform programme. The film was shot entirely on 16mm and follows his Golden Frog nominated work on Wrooklyn Zoo.
Seth Rogen will be presented with the TIFF Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award, presented by The Budman Family. The award recognizes Canadians in the film industry who have made a global impact. Rogen returns to TIFF with the World Premiere Gala Presentation of Lauren Miller Rogen’s Babies and also serves as producer and voice actor in the animated feature Tangles.
Bassam Tariq will receive the TIFF Rising Talent Award, presented by Amazon MGM Studios. The filmmaker makes his TIFF debut with the World Premiere Special Presentation of Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, starring Mahershala Ali. His previous work includes the BAFTA nominated Mogul Mowgli and the Sundance Jury Prize winning short Ghosts of Sugar Land.
The TIFF Tribute Awards gala is TIFF’s largest annual fundraiser, with proceeds supporting TIFF’s impact initiatives that expand access to world class cinema while advancing artist development, industry leadership, community engagement, and year round cultural impact. The full list of presenters will be announced on September 9.
