Rep. Tobun Abiodun, representing APC-Epe I, alongside his colleagues, addressed the press following the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa. Abiodun, who was the only member to challenge the former Speaker for the seat in 2023, declared that all standing committees of the House have been dissolved as part of the changes following the leadership shift.
The members of the House emphasized that the decision to impeach the former Speaker was made to preserve the sanctity of Parliament. The leadership change, they said, is within the powers of the members and was made with unanimous agreement. Hon. Fatai Mojeed Adebola has been appointed as the new Deputy Speaker, and all principal positions within the House have been dissolved in line with the responsibilities vested in the members.
This marks a significant shift in the leadership of the House, with a renewed focus on upholding the integrity and functioning of the Parliament.
