BUSINESSMAN TO BOOST LAGOS SPORTS WITH DONATION OF ULTRA-MODERN BOXING GYM

In a move to fostering sporting excellence and empower the youth development, a Lagos-based businessman, philanthropist and boxing enthusiast, Mr. Omonlei Imadu has pledged to donate an ultra-modern boxing gym to the Lagos State Government.

The facility, which is to be sited at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, is poised to serve as a hub for grooming the next generation of boxing talents by creating a vibrant boxing culture that will sustain long-term development.

Speaking at a meeting with the donor at the Lagos State Sports Commission Complex, Surulere, the Director General of the Commission, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, underscores the significance of the donation, stating that it presents a pivotal steps towards enhancing sports infrastructure in Lagos State.

Fatodu who confirmed that the gesture aligns with the Commission’s strategic strides of galvanizing efforts towards sports development in Lagos, explained that the boxing theatre will provide state-of-the-art equipment and training resources, which are essential for the development of elite athletes. 

The Director General expressed his profound gratitude, highlighting that the ultra-modern facility would significantly enhance the Commission’s efforts to nurture homegrown sports talents and boost Lagos State’s reputation as a leading sports hub in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Mr. Omonlei Imadu noted that the donation is part of his commitment to giving back to the society and supporting the development of sports at the grassroots level. 

He emphasized the importance of empowering and creating opportunities for young people to engage in sports, particularly boxing, as a means of building discipline, resilience, and self-confidence.

Expressing his hope that the facility would inspire the next generation of boxers and contribute to the overall development of sports in Lagos State, Mr. Imadu pointed out that the facility would not only produce future champions but also help to steer many youths away from negative influences by providing a positive and productive environment for personal growth.
