…SuperCop, CP Olatunji Disu Credits Swift Police Response in Arrest

In a significant breakthrough, the Rivers State Police Command has arrested Meshark Monday, a 27-year-old native of Ogoni, suspected of being a car theft specialist. The arrest occurred on May 2nd at approximately 12:45 am, following a high-speed chase that began on Olu Obasanjo Road and concluded on Abah Road.

Officers from the Olu Obanjo Division became suspicious of Monday’s maneuvers while he was driving a Toyota Corolla near the G.R.A junction. When he attempted to evade the police, a pursuit ensued, culminating in his capture.

During interrogation, Monday, who had been employed as a security officer at Geepap Mobile Company for two years, confessed to stealing the car. Despite hiding his driving skills from his employers, he admitted to taking the vehicle, which was parked for maintenance, out of desperation to improve his circumstances. He revealed that hunger struck him at midnight, prompting the theft.

Geepap’s General Manager, Mr. Godfrey, confirmed that the stolen vehicle was under repair and expressed surprise at Monday’s driving abilities, which had previously gone unnoticed. The case has now been forwarded to court, with ongoing investigations aimed at identifying and apprehending Monday’s accomplices in the car theft ring.

Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu praised the swift response and effective actions of the police officers involved. He also urged the public to install security cameras and alarms to deter such incidents, especially during non-working hours. “The prompt actions of our officers are commendable, and we continue to encourage preventive measures to safeguard against theft,” Disu stated.
